How We Define Excellence in Treating Pain Disorders

We are firm believers in the idea that our patients deserve excellence from every member of our staff. Whether a patient is seeking relief from cervical pain, headaches, or pain associated with soft tissue damage, it is not enough to do a quick evaluation and send the patient out the door with prescription in hand. In nearly every case, there is so much more to a patient’s pain disorder. Each patient deserves our best effort.

Right on the front page of our website is a brief statement outlining our commitment to excellence in treating pain disorders. In this post, we would like to expand on that statement to help you understand what it means from a practical standpoint. We want you to know how our commitment to excellence should be felt and experienced in the care you receive.

1. Recovery of Function

Pain has a bad habit of limiting function. If a limb hurts, you either use it less or stop using it altogether. That is not good for your health. We strive to help patients recover lost function so that they can go back to living life as normally as possible. Recovery of function is key to quality of life, which will be discussed later in this post.

2. Restoration of Wellbeing

Wellbeing speaks to your overall health and daily experience from a holistic perspective. We know that pain is more than just a symptom. We know that even when we can identify the root cause in just one part of the body, the sensation of pain can affect the entire body, mind, and spirit. Our commitment to excellence demands that we help to restore a patient’s wellbeing.

3. Comprehensive Care

Providing excellence in pain disorder treatment requires offering comprehensive care. Needless to say, we do more than write prescriptions. We seek to uncover the root cause of pain, provide a realistic prognosis, and offer as many different treatment options as possible. From steroid injections to nerve blocks to environment adjustments, there is more than one way to offer patients pain relief.

4. Genuine Compassion

We believe it is vitally important to develop strong relationships with patients, relationships built on trust and transparency. In order for us to do that, we need to show patients genuine compassion. We believe our entire team also needs to be friendly, welcoming, and supportive. All these traits are part of providing excellence in pain disorder care.

5. A Comfortable Environment

Pain is an uncomfortable experience. As a clinic committed to excellence, we do not want our office environment to add any extra discomfort to what patients are already feeling. In fact, we seek just the opposite. We want our patients to be as comfortable as they can be on every visit. The more comfortable they are, the easier it is for them to open up and be honest about how they are feeling.

6. Improving Quality of Life

Rounding out our commitment to excellence is a genuine desire to help patients improve their quality of life. Everyone deserves as high a quality of life as possible. But far too often, chronic pain robs patients of that quality. We want to see it restored. We do what we do with that very goal front and center.
